Lusaka Provincial Minister Confident of Large Turn Out of People to Make Submissions to the Technical Committee on Constitutional Amendments

Lusaka Province Minister Sheal Mulyata is confident that the people of Lusaka Province will turn up in large numbers to participate in the Constitutional Amendment process by making submissions to the Technical Committee which starts Public Sittings in the province which start tomorrow.

Ms. Mulyata says that Lusaka province administration is ready to collaborate with the technical committee as it conducts the activities in the province.

The provincial minister was speaking when the the Technical Committee on Constitutional Amendments paid a courtesy call on her at her office in Lusaka in Lusaka today.

"It is important that we remain adaptable in the face of ever-changing technology, social and political landscape and continue to engage with one another to ensure that we are providing efficient contribution to the constitution amendment process in the interest of the country," Ms. Mulyata said

Ms. Mulyata noted that it is imperative that the supreme law of the land reflects the desires and aspirations of the citizens.

She reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening Zambia's constitutional democracy and safeguarding the rights and interests of its citizens.

The Provincial Minister added that President Hakainde Hichilema has been categorical about the constitution amendment process by ensuring that it is inclusive and consultative.

And speaking on behalf of the Technical Committee Chairperson Christopher Mushabati, Committee Vice Chairperson, Landilani Banda called on Lusaka residents to turn up in large numbers to make their submissions, adding that the programme will start with submissions with traditional leaders, followed by Lusaka residents.

"We shall be sitting at Mulungushi International Conference Centre and we will be expecting that the residents of Lusaka will come in their numbers to make their submissions", he said
